    Frequently Asked Questions

    Know Your Tea Better.

    Where are your Teas from?

We source our teas from over 150 renowned plantations and small individual farms in India. Within the country, we procure from 5 popular tea-producing regions, namely: Darjeeling, Assam, Nilgiri, Kangra, and Sikkim.

    How are the Teas packaged?

After sourcing our teas directly from plantations within hours of harvest, we bring them to our state-of-the-art tea facility in New Delhi, India. The teas then go through rigorous rounds of cleaning, sorting, quality testing to remove any impurities/dust/foreign particles. Post 10+ quality checkpoints for leaf size, aroma, liquor, flavors etc. these are vacuum-packaged in opaque aluminum-lined bags using sophisticated machinery. These vacuum-bags are then stored in a dehumidified, temperature-controlled warehouse which ensures that the teas remain garden-fresh and maintain their character. Further, required quantities are packed in smaller vacuum-sealed packs which are boxed in the retail boxes and then sent over to our own delivery centers located in various parts of the world.

Life is short, drink good tea - First flush Darjeeling

Good aroma when sniffing out of the bag, rich, black and fruity. For a black tea, the leaf color was greener than I had expected.

The 3-5 minute suggested steep might be the result of treating tea as a delivery system for milk and sugar - and I haven't had either in a cup of tea since a 1985 horseback tour of Connemara Ireland when we were downing it by the thermosful to keep warm. Boiling water, steep the crap out of it, and then correct for it with milk and sugar because you've made ink.

Not surprisingly, I also found suggestions online for brewing a first flush Darjeeling that recommended lower temperatures. I compromised by steeping at 190F for 2 minutes, using a silicone infuser. At about the 1 minute mark, I opened the infuser and dumped the leaves because the color in the cup wasn't changing. Allowing the leaves to unfurl properly helped, so I just poured through a strainer into a second cup.

Flavor was delicate with fruity, almost citrusy notes. That said, I don't think the longer, hotter steep would hurt this tea. I did a second steep at 212F for three minutes and the aroma backed off a bit. I think 190F with a 3 minute steep might be a good compromise with this one. The following day I steeped a fresh pot, 1 well heaped teaspoon/8oz. water for 3 minutes at 200F and it was fine: flavor and scent were good, no bitterness.

    Best Ever Special Tea

This is wonderful tea. I usually drink tea with milk, but this I drink like a tisane (sp?). Really, think of wine. In the long ago past we have drunk tea in the gardens of Darjeeling, Nuwara Eliya, etc, and more recently bought specialty teas in London. This bests them all. If you do light diet days, fill in with this treat. I think this is also a socially responsible company.

Great combination of classic Darjeeling taste and superb freshness.

This is my favorite afternoon tea, usually with a little honey and lemon, especially in hot weather. It captures the classic Darjeeling N. India taste, with a hint of chinese black tea. The vacuum packaging works very well to keep the product fresh, even after its long journey from India to California!

The tea is super good. Packaging is also perfect with the instructions of brew times, I like it.

Pretty good tea. A bit light for my taste, but it's very nice.

I tried this tea and it's rather green, but still tastes really nice. Was expecting darker flavours and colours. Can't complain, though. Has the caffeine content I was looking for while smelling absolutely heavenly. Even my kids love it.
