One of the most highly-sought muscatel teas from Darjeeling, is this second flush Darjeeling black tea from the renowned Margaret’s Hope tea estate. This invoice of this famed summer tea is harvested from pure Chinary bushes. Mucatel teas are nature’s true work of art. These are harvested during a typically short period of time, when the peak summer phases into monsoon. This peculiar and unique climatic play of rainfall, humidity, and temperature - only for a maximum of two weeks, is what creates the ideal conditions for the ‘signature muscatel flavor’ to develop.
The leaves are relatively small, typical to pure China bushes. The liquor is of a bright golden color and has a whiff of toastiness. The first sip is sweet with hints of almonds, and it then eases into an intense play of tropical fruit flavors, particularly reminiscent of muscat grapes - which is why these teas are called muscatel. The cups rounds off with a distinct nuttiness that lingers.
