Frequently Asked Questions

Know your Tea Better

What makes Second Flush Teas highly-prized around the world?

Post the first tea harvest called the 'First Flush', Second Flush follows between May to June. The tea leaves are picked and are characterized as well-rounded, fruity and mature, flavored tea leaves. Tea brewed from these leaves is less astringent and more improved than the First Flush.

Are the flavors in the tea natural?

100% yes! Some of the ingredients are also organic.

What is the shelf life of your products?

All VAHDAM® India Teas have a shelf-life of 3 years from the ‘Date of Picking/Harvest.’ The ‘Date of Expiry’ is mentioned at the bottom of all our boxes.

How are the Teas packaged?

After sourcing our teas directly from plantations within hours of harvest, we bring them to our state-of-the-art tea facility in New Delhi, India. The teas then go through rigorous rounds of cleaning, sorting, quality testing to remove any impurities/dust/foreign particles. Post 10+ quality checkpoints for leaf size, aroma, liquor, flavors, etc., these are vacuum-packaged in opaque aluminum-lined bags using sophisticated machinery. These vacuum bags are then stored in a dehumidified, temperature-controlled warehouse which ensures that the teas remain garden-fresh and maintain their character. Further, required quantities are packed in smaller vacuum-sealed packs which are boxed in the retail boxes and then sent over to our own delivery centers located in various parts of the world.

Do you ship outside the USA?

Yes, we do ship outside the USA. To date, we have shipped our premium teas to consumers in more than 130 countries around the world. For shipping outside the USA, please visit our global website at www.vahdam.com

A light 2nd flush

This is a good value darjeeling, somewhat light in taste and body but very drinkable. Do drink this hot, as it loses all flavor when iced. You won't do better at this price point.

A unique second flush experience

This tea is different from the mainstream second flush Darjeelings. A nice full body cup with an evolving muscatel flavor, but also with a brisk lightness and a wealth of fruity flavors. I have drunk Darjeeling teas for the past 30+ years, but this cup stands out. Currently my favorite way to start my day.

A very different and pleasant tea!

I'd never heard of this tea before, and my experience with loose leaf teas only goes back a little over a year. I'd never heard of "Gopaldhara" before, so I figured why not? Vadham teas have been challenging me while I build my tea Palette, but I was shocked at how accurate the description was, though it was one of those things I had to mull over while enjoying my first cup. (4min steep time @95C) Stone fruit is the most apt description, although to me it was less "peach" or "mango" and more of a character in between a plum and prune. Not sweet, just a definite dried fruit character. It threw me a bit... the flavor to me would be *perfect* in the fall, and I know "summer" means when it was harvested, but I still place it as a 'fall' tea to my taste.

I don't know that this will be a daily tea for me, it's fantastic, don't get me wrong, but kinda like the Smoky Assam, I just have to be in the right mood for it. I got 3 good steeps, first 2 both three minutes, last steep 5 minutes, I considered a fourth but the fruit flavor from the tea was VERY weak on the third steep.

If you haven't had it, I would highly recommend it. I never thought a tea could taste like this, and overall, I'm truly shocked over how radically different flavors can come from the same plant. Pretty cool. Top notch Vahdam, top notch!

Excellent Flavor

Wonderful Darjeeling. This site's description of its flavor is accurate. Taste of sweet stone fruits, full, round background, no bitterness but deep texture (like a wine). Can hold its own with Arya Ruby. Great QPR.
