Shizuoka The picturesque Shizuoka prefecture lies alongside the Pacific coast, is blessed with rich fertile volcanic soil, and has the apt mild and temperate climate. What is the difference between Green Tea and Matcha Tea?

It is a known fact that both 'Green Tea' and 'Matcha Green Tea' come from the same mother plant Camellia Sinensis, but they both differ significantly in taste, texture, color, and in the method of preparation. While normal green tea is harvested and made using any part of the tea bush, Matcha is made using only the finest tea leaves. While making matcha, the stems and veins are removed and the leaves are then stone-ground into a fine powder which has a vibrant green color.

If you have had Japanese matcha you would be appalled at what they send you. It has a yellowish brown kinda green color. Good matcha should have a vibrant green. It should be aromatic and smooth. I’ve had low end matcha and ceremonial matcha. Some low end ones aren’t too terrible if you’re not too picky but this brand is worse then low end. It has a terrible grassy taste. And it’s very harsh and cutting. I like matcha with a small amount of honey or none. But no amount of sweetener or amazing milk could make this drinkable. I was extremely disappointed. Save yourself some time and get your matcha from Japan. Sazen Tea Co. is the real deal. It’s a pretty penny but you’ll understand when you try it.
