Frequently Asked Questions
  • What is Oolong Tea?
Oolong Tea is partially oxidized teas which are hand-rolled into thin strands. The level of oxidation for Oolong teas falls somewhere between the oxidation levels of black and green tea. The artisanal rolling technique of Oolong teas is the main factor which plays around with the appearance, color of the liquor, and the uplifting aroma, resulting in various Oolong varieties. Oolong teas have an abundance of vitamins and minerals with just the right dose of detoxifying alkaloids- a gift of the partial roasting process.
  • Why is Oolong Tea Good for Health?
In addition to caffeine, Oolong teas also contain vitamins, minerals, amino acids, and beneificial polyphenols. These polyphenols are though to reduce blood sugar and regulate insulin levels. The antioxidants present in Oolong teas have may also help to decrease the risk of heart diseases and high blood pressure. In addition to this, the combination of caffeine and polyphenols found in oolong teas help increase the number of calories burnt by the body in a day. This aids in weight loss as well.
  • How many cups of Oolong tea is recommended?
For best results, we recommend drinking two cups of Oolong tea daily; one cup in the morning coupled with a balanced breakfast ; and another cup in the afternoon along with a healthy lunch. Remember, a cup of Oolong tea contains about half as much caffeine as a cup of green tea, and far less than that found in a regular cup of coffee. Hence, a cup of Oolong tea gives you a small dose of caffeine for mental alertness but without the unwanted jitters.
  • Where do you source your teas from?
We source our teas from over 150 renowned tea plantations and small individual farms in India. Within the country, we procure from 5 popular tea-producing regions, namely : Darjeeling, Assam, Nilgiri, Kangra, and Sikkim.
  • How are your teas packed?
After sourcing our teas directly from plantations within hours of harvest, we bring them to our state-of-the-art tea facility in New Delhi, India. The teas then go through rigorous rounds of cleaning, sorting, quality testing to remove any impurities/dust/foreign particles. Teas then pass through a final 10+ quality check points for leaf size, aroma, liquor, flavors etc. They are then vacuum-packaged in opaque aluminium-lined bags using sophisticated machinery. These vacuum-bags are then stored in a dehumidified, temperatuere-controlled warehouse which ensures that the teas remain garden-fresh and maintain their character. Upon recieving a consumer's order, we further pack the required quantity of tea in smaller vacuum-sealed packs which are boxed in the retail boxes and then sent over to our own delivery centres located in various parts of the world.

Blue Mountain Nilgiri Oolong Tea Review

Tea arrived vacuum packaged and fresh. The taste of the tea can be described as medium body with slight tropical fruit undertones, very different that other Oolong teas I have tasted. I would rate this OOlong as one the best I tasted and order this delightful tea again at some point when I receive another discount offer.

What a Bargain

This must be Vahdam's Christmas present because I bought a slightly larger quantity of, what's becoming, my regular order plus a new tea, all for a reduced price. Thank you Vahdams! Although I do know of at least one other person who has enjoyed my tea and ordered from you because of this offer.

Happy Christmas

Excellent oolong!

I am not well-versed in the nuances of tea, but I know what I like and I certainly enjoyed this oolong. I took the advice of MMcInnis and enjoyed two cups with the single tsp. of leaves, and may attempt a third just to see if the wonderful aroma and taste survives another steep. I will absolutely be adding more of this particular tea to my cupboard.
