What is Oolong Tea?
Oolong Tea is partially oxidized teas which are hand-rolled into thin strands. The level of oxidation for Oolong teas falls somewhere between the oxidation levels of black and green tea. The artisanal rolling technique of Oolong teas is the main factor which plays around with the appearance, color of the liquor, and the uplifting aroma, resulting in various Oolong varieties. Oolong teas have an abundance of vitamins and minerals with just the right dose of detoxifying alkaloids- a gift of the partial roasting process.
Why is Oolong Tea Good for Health?
In addition to caffeine, Oolong teas also contain vitamins, minerals, amino acids, and beneificial polyphenols. These polyphenols are though to reduce blood sugar and regulate insulin levels. The antioxidants present in Oolong teas have may also help to decrease the risk of heart diseases and high blood pressure. In addition to this, the combination of caffeine and polyphenols found in oolong teas help increase the number of calories burnt by the body in a day. This aids in weight loss as well.
How many cups of Oolong tea is recommended?
For best results, we recommend drinking two cups of Oolong tea daily; one cup in the morning coupled with a balanced breakfast ; and another cup in the afternoon along with a healthy lunch. Remember, a cup of Oolong tea contains about half as much caffeine as a cup of green tea, and far less than that found in a regular cup of coffee. Hence, a cup of Oolong tea gives you a small dose of caffeine for mental alertness but without the unwanted jitters.
Where do you source your teas from?
We source our teas from over 150 renowned tea plantations and small individual farms in India. Within the country, we procure from 5 popular tea-producing regions, namely : Darjeeling, Assam, Nilgiri, Kangra, and Sikkim.
How are your teas packed?
After sourcing our teas directly from plantations within hours of harvest, we bring them to our state-of-the-art tea facility in New Delhi, India. The teas then go through rigorous rounds of cleaning, sorting, quality testing to remove any impurities/dust/foreign particles. Teas then pass through a final 10+ quality check points for leaf size, aroma, liquor, flavors etc. They are then vacuum-packaged in opaque aluminium-lined bags using sophisticated machinery. These vacuum-bags are then stored in a dehumidified, temperatuere-controlled warehouse which ensures that the teas remain garden-fresh and maintain their character. Upon recieving a consumer's order, we further pack the required quantity of tea in smaller vacuum-sealed packs which are boxed in the retail boxes and then sent over to our own delivery centres located in various parts of the world.
Just like the title says, this is a good light oolong tea at a reasonable price. I would say that the flavor is not super strong, so I wouldn't recommend it if you like drinking your tea iced (like I do). However it has very pleasant and distinctive flavor - good enough to encourage me to stop icing all of my tea. As a note, I brew this tea for the full five minutes and drink it hot with a teaspoon of sugar.
Great presentation, great quality and unexpected surprise of 2 extra teas to try! Very mindful, it felt like a birthday gift, (which coincidentally it was). Very easy to navigate through the website and quick shipment. The Chai Tea with almond milk and a dash of ginger was the hit of the party. Thank you!
Smokey! Really light, best brewed under boiling, we use 80C on our temp controlled kettle. Drink without any additions (milk, sugar etc). Enjoying this so much.
The tea I received was Dharamsala Mann Kangra Hand rolled Oolong tea. I like it very much even without sweetener. It was very smooth without much tannin.
This is the rather unusual tea. This is my first experience of testing tea from Kangra region. Kangra Mann has a sufficiently pronounced, but delicate and very pleasant sweet flavour. It can be compared to best first flush Darjeelings, but it is distinct. It has a green note in its flavour, but it is not a green tea. Simply an excellent tea.
